John Chiodo is not your average renovation contractor. John is a second-generation carpenter who began his construction career back in 1995. He comes from a family of carpenters who has been framing houses for Toronto builders since in the early 1970’s. Construction and building is second nature to John and this is what he led him at a very young age to develop a passion for renovations & building.
In 2000, John Chiodo just before he had turned 21 decided to use his knowledge and skills and start his own renovation business. He started his first finished basement company FinishedBasements.ca. Although he was very young, John found that clients & trades were instantly drawn to him as an honest & trustworthy individual who they can build relationships with. It was with his persistency, determination and high building standards that John quickly made a name for himself in the renovation industry and naturally projects started to grow bigger. By age 23, John had already built his first elaborate custom basement project of over 150k (which back in the early 2000’s was 4x the average spent on a typical basement renovation)
As the years progressed and John continued to perfect his craft for finished basements. It quickly became routine that many of John’s finished basement customers would call John back for bigger projects such as Kitchens & Baths, entire home renos, additions & builds. It made sense for John to open a 2nd building company to cater to his existing clients and offer more than just finished basements. It was in early 2016 that John officially opened CBG Homes Inc (custom renovations & complete builds)
With John’s eagerness to grow and take on more complex projects. It was in late 2016 John had purchased a 1.5-acre estate lot in Caledon and was finally ready to build a custom home for his family. This was always a childhood dream of his and now he had earned the opportunity to add this accolade to his resume. He had designed and built a custom bungalow of 3800 sf with a chateau style roof and high-end finishing so this was not a typical project that John was a customed to. But because of John’s many years in the business he was able to complete this build with a very close eye to every detail in just 14 months.
In June of 2022, John was asked to share his construction experiences with a local magazine “In The Hills”. Read his article on “6 tips for finding the right contractor”. https://www.inthehills.ca/2022/06/6-tips-for-finding-the-right-contractor/
And in the summer of 2023, John was featured at In the Hills magazine high-lighting his journey & accomplishments and all that he has brought to his construction business spanning the course of over 25 years. https://www.inthehills.ca/2023/06/draft-from-the-ground-up/
At present day, John and his company have renovated hundreds of homes in the GTA with hundreds of referrals. He is extremely well-versed in various contracting projects from fully finished basements, to custom renovations, to full and complete home builds. John offers his customers peace of mind that their project will be done right and has developed a strong name in the business for honesty, quality, and service. John has been married for 17 years and is a proud husband and father to his family. He continues to follow his passion for building and is always eager to take on new and elaborate projects.
